Welcome to the North Greece Fire Department Website

Chief Stan Mesh

My name is Stan Mesh, and I began my task as Chief of the Department in January of 2007. North Greece has changed since it’s inception 85 years ago. What began as a volunteer department has transformed itself into a large combination department. We provide services to residents in the Northwest portion of the Town of Greece, and the East side of the Town of Parma. We are staffed 24 hours at our three stations with firefighters, dispatchers, EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) and ILS (Intermediate Life Support) personnel. Our Fire District protects a 46-square-mile area comprised of residential, commercial, and light industrial businesses. We continue to grow, adding many new homes and families every year. What was once farmland or undeveloped is now becoming new homes. As our towns grow with these new work places, homes and residents, so has our Fire Department. We continue to add both volunteer and career staff personnel to improve our response time and the service we provide.

North Greece operates from three fully-manned stations. Our career staff operates on a 4-day rotation of 2 - 10 hour day shifts followed by 2 - 14 hour night shifts, then 4 days off. We have an apparatus fleet of 6 Engines, 1 Quint (a ladder truck with hose and pumps), a Heavy Rescue, a Grass Fire off-road utility vehicle, and several support and staff vehicles.

In 2006, we responded to over 3,600 calls. These included EMS (Emergency Medical Services), Fires, Automatic Alarms, MVAs (Motor Vehicle - car Accidents), Hazardous Materials Incidents, Gas or Fumes and other types of both emergency and non-emergency requests. In 2006, we added to our EMS program with a new level of training that now includes ILS (Intermediate Life Support.) We have both career and volunteer staff trained to this advanced medical certification and provide the service 24 hours 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

It is an honor to be a team leader of this very special organization. Our 75+ volunteers, career firefighters, administrative staff, along with the volunteer and career officers work with IAFF Local 3827 to serve our community.

We welcome your comments as we strive to improve the quality of our services. Please feel free to e-mail me.

Firematically Yours,
Chief Stan Mesh
